FMS2 is a light-weight,
field-portable fluorescence instrument which uses the pulse-modulated principle to monitor
chlorophyll fluorescence. It is therefore suitable for non-invasive sampling from tissue
operating under natural light conditions or measurement in conjunction with other
techniques such as infrared gas analysis (IRGA).
At the heart of the system is the
field-rugged FMS2 control unit. This is a housing which is light enough to be carried and
operated from its shoulder bag. It contains all of the integral light sources and
temperature compensated electronics needed for fluorescence measurement.
The FMS2 is supplied with two leaf-clip systems :
The PAR and temperature Leaf-Clip has an integral cosine corrected PAR sensor and leaf
thermocouple. Simultaneous logging of fluorescence, incident PAR and leaf temperature can
be initiated from the remote trigger button. The PAR sensor may be used in two different
positions allowing calibration of FMS light output to the sample.
