The Fluorescence
Monitoring System (FMS1) uses the pulse-modulated technique to measure chlorophyll
fluorescence emission from samples which are engaged in photosynthesis under ambient light
conditions.
The system comprises a control unit,
housing all of the electronics, optics and light sources. A custom fibre optic interface
module both delivers light and collects fluorescence signal from samples within a variety
of containers such as oxygen electrodes, IRGA chambers, cuvettes, petri dishes and
microtitre plates.
Accessory fibre-optic adapters ensure compatibility with the
complete range of aqueous-phase and gas-phase HANSATECH oxygen electrode products for
simultaneous oxygen measurement from chloroplasts, algal suspensions, macroalgae or
leafdiscs.
A system of leafclips and fibre-optic adapters are supplied for
fluorescence-only use on whole leaves. The closed fibre-optic adapter is suitable for
applications where ambient light must be excluded whilst the open adapter is suitable for
studies under ambient conditions.
